As winter approaches, many people begin to brace themselves for the onset of cold weather. Needless to say, there are many reasons to look forward to the snow!

One fun activity is the legendary snowball fight! Everyone knows what a snowball fight is, and everyone has fun participating- until they get hit! Snowball fights become much more fun if you manage to stay dry, a good way to do so is to wear three or more layers of clothing, mittens with hand warmers in them, and a winter cap. A fun addition to snowball fights is the construction of snow forts and trenches if the snow is deep enough. If it’s not, it’s easy to circumnavigate the trench issue by shoveling the snow into drifts prior to digging.

Another fun project is building a snowman, with a twist. See who can make the most interesting creature out of snow. Can you make an alien? How about an octopus? After building your snow creature, fill a spray bottle with water and add food coloring to it. Now go color up your creation!

How about watching recaps or reruns of Russia’s Irina Slutskaya this winter? As one of the most renown female ice skaters, she is a thrill to watch. While competing she won seventeen championships, only stopping upon conception with her husband.
